You will find Babe's Noodles and Bar in the center of town, just off Playa's well-known 5th Avenue. Babe's is a Swedish-owned restaurant and bar with an ecletic menu that includes thai noodles, swedish meatballs, and vegetarian dishes. The bar is known for its over-sized drinks, including Margaritas and Daiquiris that so big they melt into the street before you can finish them!
The space is retro's-50's, decked out with lava lamps, pin-up girls, and Barbie dolls. Dining is casual, and you can sit either inside or out on the street (which we prefer, given the typically beautiful Playa Del Carmen weather).
The portions are super-sized, so make sure you're hungry before coming to Babe's (Tip: you can save a bit of money by ordering a half-portion of most dishes). The food is always hot and fresh and runs on the spicy side. Most dishes can be made without meat or chicken, making it a great option for vegetarians.
Aside from the funky atmosphere, amazing food, and large portions, Babe's is a great place to just hang out and relax in the afternoon heat. The bar area offers games, magazines, and ample people watching to entertain yourself until the evening begins.
