Insider Tip Address Location Acanto Suites & Lounge ReviewWhen you step into the Acanto Hotel, you immediately feel as if you've been transported to a different time and place. Buddhist sculptures and oriental furnishings abound, giving one the impression that they are not staying in a hotel, but in a middle-eastern palace. The theme of the Acanto seems to be seclusion. This is a place where you come to retreat from the world. The property is difficult to notice from the street if you aren't looking for it. When you step in, you enter a cozy open-air lobby decorated in black woods and red velvet furniture. The entrance to the property is curtained off and flanked by staircases. When you enter, it almost seems as if you are entering a portal to your private oasis, far away from where you came from. The entire property is enclosed by a ten foot wall, limiting the noise from outside and creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The courtyard is dominated by a statue of Maitreya who looks over a crystal clear blue pool. Scattered about the property are eastern-style sculptures and there are numerous wind chimes hanging from the many trees in the area. Guests can enjoy this beautiful scene for as long as they like - beach chairs are provided and the area gets plenty of sun. Like the common area, the rooms have been decorated in a masterful fashion. Each suite has a separate dining room and bedroom and is styled in the same manner as the hotel lobby with dark wood, stucco, and red fabrics. The bedrooms are intentionally recessed within the suites, repeating the theme of seclusion. Should you feel the need to get in touch with the outside world, the rooms do come with television and sound system, but no internet. Each suite also comes with a kitchenette and this is where our only complaint lies, as this area does not seem to reflect the same exquisite styling as the rest of the suites and hotel. Nevertheless, the kitchens are functional and clean and are certainly a perk that you won't find in many other hotel This exquisitely designed property caters to singles and couples and is located just steps away from both the busy 5th Avenida as well as the beach. It is a great choice for couples looking for an exotic romantic getaway. With only 7 rooms, the Acanto is in great demand. You will need to book well in advance, generally four weeks or longer to reserve a room, but if you can't find a room online, give them a call as they can sometimes accomodate. i stayed for the last night of my vacation at the acanto. i moved there because the first hotel i stayed at was undergoing renovations, and i wish my entire stay had been at the acanto.
this . . hotel . . . is GREAT. they let me check in early, it was so quiet and the bedrooms are nestled within the property so i heard nothing outside - no renovations, no clubs or restaurants. the suites are huge with a fully equipped kitchen - and they provide the coffee with your coffee maker.
there is such attention to detail from decor to the bathrobes and soap amenities to the chic little CD players with the hotel's personal mix CD for you to listen to. . .
they have towels and beach mats for your time at the beach, and the hotel is small enough so that the receptionists know you.
i'm a travel agent and i really recommend this property.
